The nation's first vertical large-scale model application service platform for the steel industry was officially launched in Handan on February 2nd, marking a crucial step forward in the deep integration of artificial intelligence technology into the transformation of the steel industry. Based on the "Weisebo" steel large-scale model independently developed by HBIS Digital, the platform will provide steel companies with comprehensive solutions covering multiple fields such as AI large-scale models, intelligent manufacturing, industrial energy, and smart operations, assisting in the intelligent upgrading of the steel industry in Hebei and even nationwide.
As an important steel production base in my country, Hebei's steel output accounts for approximately one-fifth of the national total. In recent years, although steel companies in the province have actively attempted to independently develop intelligent models to optimize production, they have generally faced problems such as fragmented technology, redundant investment, and insufficient system compatibility. To address this, the Hebei Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology coordinated efforts with HBIS Group, Yanzhao Steel Laboratory, and other research institutions and technology companies such as Alibaba Cloud to jointly create this public service platform integrating technology research and development with scenario application. The platform aims to pool industry wisdom, reduce transformation costs, and promote the coordinated development of the steel industry.

Xiao Pengcheng, deputy director of the Yanzhao Steel Laboratory, stated that the laboratory will continue to increase R&D investment in the "AI + Steel" field, focusing on key technologies such as short-process intelligent steelmaking, quality prediction systems, and full-process carbon accounting. It will also actively introduce advanced domestic and international achievements to fully support the digital transformation of the steel industry.
Currently, the platform has partnered with six companies and associations, including Xinjin Steel and Jinan Steel. Zhang Xiaohui, director of the Steel Industry Division of the Hebei Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, stated that the platform will focus on Handan and gradually connect with steel companies throughout the province, providing a full-chain service from model selection and data integration to solution deployment. The goal is to create more than 50 effective application cases within the year, achieving full coverage of large-scale models in key scenarios, and ultimately enhancing the overall competitiveness of Hebei's steel industry through artificial intelligence.
The platform aims to become the largest vertical large-scale steel model application service platform in China, serving the most companies, offering the most comprehensive range of models, and having the widest application scope, setting a new benchmark for the high-quality development of my country's steel industry.
