Shanghai Pudong's gas system upgrade incorporates

Shanghai's gas pipeline renovation project has achieved a new technological breakthrough. Recently, a demonstrative gas riser renovation project was completed at No. 285, Rushan Road, Pudong New Area, becoming the first old residential community project in the city to apply the "thick-walled stainless steel pipe + fully automated self-fusion welding" process. The project was implemented by Shanghai Gas Pudong Sales Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Pudong Sales Company"), providing a brand-new technological approach for the upgrading and renovation of the city's old gas pipeline network.

With the accelerated pace of urban renewal in Shanghai, many old residential communities have experienced problems such as rust and aging in their gas risers due to long-term operation, posing a threat to residents' gas safety. The thick-walled stainless steel pipes introduced in this renovation project have a wall thickness of up to 3 mm. Compared with traditional coated galvanized steel pipes, their corrosion resistance is significantly improved, which can greatly extend the service life of the pipelines and reduce subsequent operation and maintenance costs.

At the same time, the small-diameter closed-loop fully automatic self-fusion welding process has technical advantages such as stable welding quality, good sealing performance, and strong construction adaptability, which not only improves construction efficiency but also further enhances the overall safety and reliability of the pipeline system.

The successful completion of this project marks an important step forward for Shanghai in improving the inherent safety of gas pipelines and promoting the application of new materials and processes. It also accumulates valuable experience for the future renovation of older pipeline networks on a larger scale.
