Wuyang Steel WPHY70 pipeline steel successfully replaces imports, achieving a breakthrough in independent development of high-end materials.

On January 11, HBIS Group Wuyang Steel Company delivered over 260 tons of WPHY70 pipeline steel plates, independently developed and produced, to the customer 30 days ahead of schedule. The plates, ranging in thickness from 20mm to 54mm, cover multiple specifications, providing strong support for the smooth progress of the project. This batch of products will be exported for use in key pipe fittings and high-pressure transmission pipelines at a large oil and gas station, marking a significant achievement in China's self-sufficiency in the field of high-strength special steel.

Previously, China relied heavily on imports for similar ultra-thick pipeline steel, facing challenges such as high prices and long delivery cycles. Imported products were expensive, with delivery times typically lasting 2-3 months. Wuyang Steel's supply not only reduced overall costs by more than 15% but also shortened the delivery cycle to within 55 days. Furthermore, it can provide customized production services based on actual project needs, significantly improving the stability and economic efficiency of the supply chain.

As an important R&D and production base for special steel in my country, Wuyang Steel has been focusing on the independent development of materials in key national fields such as energy, military industry, and marine engineering. It has successfully developed a series of high-performance products such as 28.6 mm thick X70 pipeline steel and 32 mm thick X70Q pipeline steel, which have been widely used in major domestic and foreign projects such as the Central Asia Pipeline and the West-East Gas Pipeline.

The successful development and delivery of this 54mm thick WPHY70 pipeline steel not only expands the thickness limit of high-end pipeline steel in China, but also demonstrates that Wuyang Steel has reached the international advanced level in the field of ultra-thick-walled, high-strength pipeline steel. This provides solid material support for the localization and safety upgrade of China's energy equipment and further enhances the steel industry's independent controllability in the field of high-end special materials.
