Benxi Steel's high-end automotive steel successfully replaces imported products, supplying electrogalvanized products to Hisense's overseas base.
Recently, the Cold Rolling Plant of Benxi Steel Group under Ansteel Group successfully achieved stable production of 0.8mm thin-gauge CP980 ultra-high-strength steel. This product has been applied in the manufacturing of automotive components for a domestic brand, replacing previously imported materials. This marks a significant breakthrough for Benxi Steel in the R&D and market application of high-grade automotive steel.
CP980 belongs to the third generation of advanced high-strength steel, combining high strength with excellent formability to promote automotive lightweighting and enhance safety performance. The production of this 0.8mm thin gauge product achieved a technical breakthrough: by optimizing the rolling model and roll arrangement, and compressing the rolling passes, the single-stand rolling mill successfully rolled ultra-thin CP980, boosting production efficiency by approximately 30%. The continuous annealing line simultaneously optimized welding parameters and tension control, ensuring stable operation throughout the entire process.
Additionally, Benxi Steel's electrogalvanized products have recently successfully entered Hisense Group's overseas supply chain—a batch of TV back panels manufactured by Benxi Steel has been successfully rolled off the production line at Hisense's Mexico plant, to be used in multiple TV models targeting the North American and Latin American markets.
Hisense's Mexico plant enforces stringent material certification standards. In response, Benxi Steel established a dedicated technical team to comprehensively optimize raw material selection, process control, and surface quality. Utilizing advanced continuous annealing and electrogalvanizing lines, Benxi Steel precisely controls key metrics such as zinc coating thickness and surface roughness, ensuring the backplate exhibits superior stamping performance, rust resistance, and aesthetic quality. The final product successfully passed multiple performance tests conducted by Hisense, securing a bulk order.
Hisense Mexico stated that Benxi Steel has demonstrated outstanding performance in product quality, stable supply, and logistics responsiveness, effectively supporting its localized production needs and providing reliable material assurance for overseas market expansion. Both parties look forward to leveraging this opportunity to pursue broader international cooperation in the future.
The successive entry of automotive steel and electrogalvanized products into high-end markets demonstrates Benxi Steel's comprehensive capabilities in high-end material R&D, production control, and customer service, further strengthening its competitive position within the steel industry.
