Africa's richest person ventures into the steel industry: Dangote Group launches a new round of industrialization strategy.

According to a March 6 report by “African Insider”, Aliko Dangote, Africa's richest man and president of the Dangote Group, recently announced a formal entry into the steel industry as a key step in his efforts to promote Africa's industrialization. This strategy aims to enhance Africa's domestic manufacturing capabilities and reduce its long-term dependence on imported industrial raw materials.

In an interview with *The New York Times*, Dangote stated that oil refining is only one part of his overall industrial strategy. The future focus will be on building a competitive steel industry chain, promoting energy infrastructure development, and developing a port system to support large-scale industrial production and trade. "We must industrialize Africa," he said.

As a key pillar of this strategy, Dangote Cement Plc, a cement subsidiary of the Dangote Group, signed a $1 billion agreement with Sinoma International Engineering Co.,Ltd. on March 2nd to build and expand cement production lines in seven African countries. This move is seen as an extension of the group's deep-processing industrial strategy and lays the foundation for future steel projects.

Industry analysts believe that the advancement of steel production projects is expected to become another significant strategic move by the Dangote Group in the heavy industry sector, following cement and petrochemicals. It will also provide substantial support for Africa to reduce its dependence on imported steel and build a complete industrial system.
